Single Fathers and Their Children's Health Care

Results of a study by researchers at the journal Health Services Research show children of single fathers have fewer routine well-child doctor visits than children of single mothers and two-parent families. The study also concluded these children are 20 percent more likely to go without health insurance for an extended period of time. Parents of more than 62,000 children ages 0-18 were surveyed. Just 3 percent of these children lived in a single father home, while 22 percent lived in a single mother home.
