We've all seen them .... people driving with their dogs in their laps or hanging out the passenger window. Since there are currently no states with pet seatbelt laws, apparently the next best thing is to protect your traveling buddies with insurance.
The Progressive Group of Insurance Companies is seeking to do just that. The company recently announced it will cover dogs and cats on customer auto policies that include collision coverage. The policy will pay up to $500 if a customer's dog or cat is injured or killed as a result of an auto accident. The Pet Injury Insurance policy is currently available in 46 states.
