The 2007 comScore Online Automobile Insurance Report shows that online purchases of auto insurance increased 58% from 2005 to 2006. The number of online auto insurance quotes increased 15% over the same period.
This appears to be proof positive that consumers continue to become more comfortable shopping for and purchasing insurance online. Consumers are much more likely to purchase an insurance policy online when they are familiar with the insurance company and convinced the website they are using is guaranteed secure. Many consumers also indicate their preference to have the option of calling and talking with a licensed insurance representative if necessary.
Online life insurance purchases have also increased in recent years.
