Insurance Companies Funding Presidential Hopefuls

According to report in BestWeek U.S./Canada, insurance industry sources have contributed a total of $5.65 million to the campaigns of presidential candidates. U.S. Federal Elections Commission filings show Democratic candidates have pulled in over 59 percent of those contributions. Hillary Rodham Clinton was the leader with $1.08 million in insurance industry funds. Among her contributors were individuals or groups associated with MetLife Insurance Company, Western and Southern Life Insurance Company, Prudential Financial and New York Life Insurance Company among others. Senator Christopher J. Dodd, D-Conn.
